How funny. Just last week I read someone's sermon about the Mary and Martha story. I'll try to find it again, but this stuck with me: that Jesus was basically telling Martha to let Mary be, as opposed to telling Martha to be like Mary. Anyway it was really very interesting how the preacher went into how the translations worked to frame the encounter in patriarchal terms. Wonder if you've seen something like that.
